Depeche Mode /dÉ¨ËŒpÉ›ÊƒËˆmoÊŠd/ are an English electronic band formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex. The group's original line-up consisted of Dave Gahan (lead vocals, occasional songwriter since 2005), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals, chief songwriter after 1981), Andy Fletcher (keyboards), and Vince Clarke (keyboards, chief songwriter 1980-81). Depeche Mode released their debut record in 1981, Speak & Spell, bringing the band onto the British new wave scene. Clarke left the band after the release of the album, leaving the band as a trio to record A Broken Frame, released the following year.

Poetry in its purest form... This is one of the really classic early 90's songs, it's about silence, yes silence and the sanctuary it could be, standing against the bubbling of people, the unintentional hurt that comes with poor usage of words, the kingdom of calmness it can be...
Jesus is used more as a symbolism here, in a song which is clearly about self-believing and less about religion doubting... The song suggests that you don't need a figure to be the antenna of your prayers, yourself would be more than capable of filling the role.
