Who is Lil Durk?
Born October 19, 1992, Durk Derrick Banks, known professionally as Lil Durk, is a rapper from Chicago who started gaining popularity in the early 2010s. He slowly garnered a cult following for his hard-hitting lyrical style, reminiscent of earlier Chicago MCs.
Lil Durk garnered much attention over time which ultimately led him to be noticed by some heavyweights in the industry such as Kanye West, Chief Keef, and Pusha T, who were impressed enough by his work to ink him a record deal with Def Jam Recordings. Def Jam Recordings released two of his debut studio albums, Remember My Name and Lil Durk 2X, but later dropped the artist in 2018.
Lil Durk would make his first appearance on the Billboard Hot 100 with the single "Viral Moment" off his fifth studio album. He then collaborated with Drake and Dej Loaf on their song "Laugh Now Cry Later." In 2021, his release of The Voice of the Heroes was his first to debut on top of the Billboard 200.
