Alice in Chains was formed in 1987 by Jerry Cantrell (guitar) and Layne Staley (vocals), with Sean Kinney, Mike Starr, William Duvall and Mike Inez (replaced Star) joining in a bit later. Known for their unique sound that combined pounding hard rock with strains of acoustics and post-punk offerings, the band appealed to a wide fan base ranging from metal to Seattle-grunge. The group released their first album in 1990, which went gold, and their second in 1992, which went multiplatinum. After their 1994 release, Chains saw only rereleased material due to addictions that ultimately cost Staley and Star their lives. However, a comeback album finally came out in 2009, with another in 2013.

Love this chorus.... Isn't just the perfect example of a song you listen to, half drunk, in a rock bar and raise your glasses while beer is spilling out, to toast with your mates? A chorus that is talking for (and is talking straight into the hearts of) a generation of rebels, who have become employees for pennies.....
