The best song with this title. It's all good with Bruno Mars, but his just the way you are is simply no comparison to this one. Billy Joel practically enumerates those things that make a person unique. Their looks and the beauty in the nature of them, the fact of seeing that person all the time and never get tired of it, being there in the rough and in the good, and one that I love... not looking for a smartass conversation. There is no need to be the most intellectual person. When you are with someone, you just want to be you. And we are all foolish sometimes, most of the time. And with all that, love the other person. Love them just as they are, no modifications, no "this could be better," just simply love.
Something that tends to happen is that you have lived for so long in a place, that you lose the charm of it. You don't see the things that it has anymore, the wonderful sides and sights. And then one day you leave and miss it. And start seeing the differences with wherever you are now and figure out that the other place was HOME and you can appreciate it. It seems like Billy Joel is seeing everything that New York has to give and forms his own "State of Mind" about it.
