1998 to 2005
The Bomfunk MC’s were a beatbox hip hop group from Finland active from 1998 to 2005. Along with frontman B.O. Dubb, the group included members Ari Toikka, Ville Mäkinen, Riku Pentti, Okke Komulainen and Ismo Lappalainen. Their debut album was 1999’s In Stereo, which sold more than 600,000 copies. It included the single “Freestyler,” which landed at the number one or number two spot on charts across Europe. Their follow-up album Burnin’ Sneakers from 2002 gathered less attention but did have some success thanks to the single “Something Goin’ On.” Since about 2005, many band members have been active in other project or remained out of the spotlight, and although no official announcement was ever made, Bomfunk MC’s appears to have disbanded.
This is a cool song about a perspective of life we all frequenty need to tend to, that of just living it and care to neglect the detaisl surrounding us, makin things more and more grey....On the other hand I reckon this song is one of those, the a group releases after their breakthrough, criticizing themselves before anyone else, judging what success may have done to them....
Now who on earth can forgot the tone deaf acoustic guitar riff, in the first minute of the extended version of the song? IF you were born 1995 you certainly don't count. Now this massive hit, it's about a guy who apparently "rocks the mirophone" and is a "freestyler" !
