Chingy is the American rapper born Howard Bailey Jr. on March 9, 1980 in St. Louis, Missouri. Chingy began rapping in his late teens and in 2002 toured as the opening act for the rapper Nelly. He then signed with Ludacris' new music label Disturbing the Peace. Chingy's debut single, "Right Thurr" (2003), helped him gain wider popularlity because of the song's appeal in hip-hop clubs. His debut album, Jackpot, sold more than 2 million copies thanks largely to the success of that song. His subsequent albums were Powerballin' (2004), Hate it or Love It (2007) and Success and Failure (2010).
