Biography
Too often described as a band that Eric Clapton was in, or the one hit wonder responsible for "Layla", Derek and the Dominos also featured Bobby Whitlock, Carle Radle, and Jim Gordon. Formed in 1970, and disbanded within a year, the London-based group was also able to get George Harrison, Duane Allman and Dave Mason to record on their only studio album.  Released in 1970, the album didn't hit the charts until the single, "Layla" reached the Top Ten. The band attempted a second studio album but was dogged by tragedy and difficulty, eventually causing them to shelf the tracks.
