George Strait is a C&W legend. Born May 18, 1952 as George Harvey Strait he is a singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer and also known as the "King of Country. He is famed for his cowboy look since his first single "Unwound" was a hit in 1981. Strait was voted Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, and was promptly elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2009, he broke Conway Twitty's previous record for most number-one on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart when his 41st number one single surpassed Twitty's total of 40.
