Back in the day, you were hitting the record store and you were more than happy to place all your budget on a record you haven't heard not even a single song off it, but you were familiar with the name of the band... Gn'R are back, it's fact, everyone knows it.
This song talks about the lack of explanation for every civil war. People die, there's hopelesness, there's poverty, starvation and still, wars never bring positive results. There really isn't any. They begin due to ambition and they end without any sort of result other than political.
This song has this version and then an alternate one in which the lyrics change. Both of them are completely heartbreaking. Somehow, you always feel like he's talking to someone who is going to die no matter what and he's just trying to comfort her and let her know that it's not the end.. not completely anyway.
The other day I heard the best idea for this song.. there was a couple looking for a song to enter to the party of their wedding. You know how they try to pick a romantic one that at the same time is uplifting so they can celebrate and dance at the same time that they are entering their party. Then a person suggested them to enter with this song and just to imagine it and seeing the bride sticking her tongue out and smashing something as she enters, then the groom drinking non stop, basically both handling themselves like hardcore rockstars... now that would be something to see!
There are times in life (even more i pressume if you are in a explosive Rock'n'Roll band in the 80's..) when you meet someone who possess the potential to become your indestructible sex instructor...Could be someone some years older, a person who you see as a "Rocket Queen" !
Among favourites in this album full of super-songs, this sees the opposite side of Gn'R shown in other more sensitive songs, this time is about a girl who was driving crazy one of the band's members (or all the them perhaps?) getting high on self-satisfaction rather than accepting love.
A beautiful song, regarding melody or lyrics.... These words of Axl's while Slash's riffing, are just superb.. He is simply describing his girl, how much of an angel is to his eyes, innocent yet passionative lover, it goes all over the planet and landing back to where it started, having gathered the most magnificent music and lyrics to decorate her description.
