Kelis Rogers is an American singer and songwriter born on August 21, 1979 in New York City. She is known professionally simply as Kelis. After some international success with her 1999 album Kaleidoscope and disappointment with the 2010 followup Wanderland, Kelis gained broad commercial success with the hit song “Milkshake” from her third album, Tasty (2003). The single sold more than 500,000 copies and earned Kelis a 2004 Grammy nomination. The album’s second single, “Trick Me,” gained wide success in Europe. She has gone on to release three more albums, with the most recent being 2014’s Food.
