American pop rock band
With their impossible to categorize sound, the band Maroon 5 is a worldwide success. Formed in Los Angeles in 1999, it stands out due, in part, to the vocals provided by Adam Levine. The group includes Levine along with Jesse Carmichael, Mickey Madden, James Valentine, and Ryan Dusick. They initially struggled to find a voice and audience, but with their debut album in 2002, they eventually hit the mainstream and then went global. It would take 17 months for their first two albums to reach the charts, but when the videos for their songs appeared, the good looks of the band soon led to international super stardom, a condition they have since easily sustained with tours and subsequent albums.
Thoughts on Songs with Maroon 5

This is a complete masterpiece from Maroon 5. I came here everyday to read the lyrics. Many people find this video and lyrics creepy and controversial, but I loved the song and the video. It suggests that there is a beast inside every person, and show its true colors when waking up.

I often think about why this about a payphone. In today's world, no one uses them, and I think that is the point of the song. Adam is singing about the past when he was at a payphone trying to get this girl to stay with him, but it didn't work. Now, he is successful and has changed his number (probably to his cell phone) so that she can't even call him. Yet, in his memory, there is still a part of him at that payphone remembering how much was wasted on a relationship that went wrong.

He trusted her. There is nothing worse than getting backstabbed by the one you love the most, or worse, from the person you trust the most. He does feel regret for doing whatever he even thought of doing but he is hurt the most by the fact that she did not trust them, she did not help him and the worst fact that she was not there for him when he needed her the most. The whole song is a broken heart.
