US metal band
Metallica is an American metal band formed by drummer Lars Ulrich and vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield in 1981. The current line-up also features lead guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo. The group's debut album Kill 'Em All (1983) was an all-out aggressive thrash metal album. In the mid-1980s they moved towards a heavy metal sound. Their output during the '80s remains hugely influential throughout the metal scene. Their 1991 self-titled release mixed heavy metal with a more commercial sound. The album has been certified 16x Platinum by the RIAA. Later in the '90s they adapted to the times with hard rock/alternative rock albums Load (1996) and Reload (1997). In recent years they have moved back towards a more traditional metal sound. Metallica have released nine studio albums and sold 110 million records worldwide.
A clear reference to Hemighway's novel, which goes by the same name; it's a novel about warfare and all kinds of shame and humiliation all men participate in it experience. given that "Ride the Lightning" it's an album people get into in a relatively young age, it can become the first incentive το Hemingway, before Hemingway himself.
YEAH! First thrash metal album in history \m/ "Hit the LIghts" captures the spirit of teenage metalheads facing the dawn of their Saturday night... Getting filled up with beer, going from one bar to another, talking about music all the time while the exchange compliments on each other band's logo patches! That is exactly how I see this song :D
Well, I don't think anybody really understood what Metallica tried to accomplish with St. Anger's raw and primitive production... In terms of music though, it includes some spectacular tracks, like "Frantic" here, a title which stands perfect for its content! It's about a person who suddently realises that something went wrong along the highway of his life, and the result was that he now is... Frantic!
