I very nearly lost a dear friend of mine to heroin addiction years ago, and every time I hear this song I think of him. This is a very literal description of Kiedis's own battle with heroin & his memory of "drawing" blood with a needle under a bridge in the City Of Angels. Catchy, yes. But also a very visceral song.
It's more than obvious, that RHCP are obsessed with mentioning California in almost every song the write and it's not only that there's a minor reference, it's there, you fell it, you can taste California coming out of your speakers dressed as notes, as it serves among this band's major inspirations.....
This is a top fix for our mood when you're moving towards your long-waited concert, or even, a night out drinking with your mates, just the perfect ammount of low-tempo and up-tempo swings, as the chorus is about a girl, a concert, a waiting in the line, all at once....
A song that was composed back in the day where RHCP were world-acclaimed drug addicts, a song that's really obvious was written under the influence and of course, a humble reminder, how good drugs have been proven for music over the decades, in terms of inspiration for cool songs!
