DJ Clue first introduced Sonja Blade to the underground rap game in 1998 on a mixtape with Canibus. Soon after, in 1999, she was also featured in the album Violater, along with Noreaga and Busta Rhymes. Her single from that album, “Come On”, also appeared in the soundtrack to “Romeo Must Die.” The rapper dropped her first solo album in 2000, under her own label Top of Tha World Entertainment, which she formed with manager Kycee after falling out with Virgin Records. In 2012, Sonja also won the Underground Music Awards’ Female Artist of the Year, helping her to gain further recognition.

I get so overwhelmed when the Ladies run this, they do it right, I guess this is why. Is the kind of sisterhood praised in this song, the female power of the real ladies, women to be proud of, women that are not afraid to stand out and make their voices be heard and their presence loud!
