industrial metal group
Known for their mix of techno beats with thrash metal and a bit of industrial overtones, Static-X began in Chicago with Ken Jay (drummer) and Wayne Static (guitar/vocals). From there, the two went to California, where they added Koichi Fukada (guitarist/programmer) and Tony Campos (bassist). The group’s first album went gold in 1999, and Tripp Eisen was added to replace Fukado on guitar. In 2004, Jay was replaced with Nick Oshiro, a tour drummer. Static-X went on to release five more albums, the last in 2009. Shortly after, the group parted ways, with Static moving on to his own Pighammer project before dying in 2014.
