The Civil Wars
2009 to 2014
August 5, 2014
Nashville, Tennessee, United States
The Civil Wars was a duet formed in 2009, with John Paul White and Joy Williams as the only members. Quickly earning a favorable reputation in the country and folk music scene, they were clearly of their generation, releasing their debut album in digital only. Their subsequent recordings were also digital releases, with their second album (in 2011) reaching into the Billboard Top 20 within a week of its release. They worked with T-Bone Burnett to create a popular, self-titled album but then surprised their fans and the music world by announcing - in mid 2014 - that they were permanently parting ways.
Thoughts on Songs with The Civil Wars

Wonderful song about the end of the world. You may like Taylor Swift or not, but this song is almost not hers! I mean, it doesn't sound like the current stuff she does at all. It was done for "The Hunger Games" but putting it away from that universe, it's a song about the end coming near and still finding love to be the only important thing. As long as they are together, then they'll be alright somehow.
