The Rolling Stones
November 30, -0001 in London
London, England, United Kingdom
Formed in 1962 and dubbing themselves the “World’s Greatest Rock & Roll Band”, the Rolling Stones were responsible for the heavy, blues-infused brand of rock and roll that become the leading sound for hard rock. Members include Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bassist), Brian Jones (guitar) and Charlie Watts (drummer) climbed the charts in the UK and never looked back. The band’s seedier side emerged in the late 1960s, however, when issues such as the drowning of Jones in a swimming pool and the brutal death of a concertgoer became known. The Stones remained active, celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2012 and releasing a CD of their Hyde Park concert in late 2013.
