The rock bad The Verve came together in Wigan, England in 1990, releasing three albums and several extended play recordings the mid-1990s. Their commercial breakthrough came in 1997 with the release of Urban Hymns, one of the best-selling albums in UK history. The album included the single "Bitter Sweet Symphony," which was nominated for the Best Rock Song Grammy Award in 1999. The group broke up in April of that year but reunited with its original lineup eight years later. The Verve released the album Forth (2008) before breaking up yet again in 2009.
I've wondered throughout the years, if when facing an utter disaster, the old-cliche "this is going to lead to something good eventually"... Well, even if the most skeptic ones would say "there standard crap is told to prevent suicide statistics grow exponentially", i don't know, somehow, the universe always takes it's toll and repay you for all the bad stuff, at some point....
Quite abstract this one, the lyrics combined are far from telling a structured story, lines dropped here and there -comments on the modern world. However, the title -and main lyric- is more than enough to make this song one of your favourites, I mean, it is a very simple yet functioning answer to the old age question : What is love? - Love is noise.
