Santa Barbara, CA, United States
US alternative rock band
Alt rock band Toad the Wet Sprocket formed in 1986 in Santa Barbara, California. Members are Glen Phillips, Todd Nichols, Dean Dinning and Randy Guss. After reaching success in the 1990s following the release of their third album, fear, the band broke up in 1998 only to come together again for small-scale shows and tours in 2006. The announcement of their official reunion came in 2010. In 2013, they released Now Constellation, their first album of new songs since Coil in 1997. Their name comes from a Monty Python sketch that uses the wacky name for a fictional band.

It is obviously about Leonard Peltier (though they pronounce the name wrong) and the "Reign of Terror" on the Pine Ridge reservation in the 70's, leading to "The Incident at Oglala". Over two years on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, there were over 200 murders, none investigated, mostly done by whites or "GOONS"...mixed blood 'vigilantes' who were buddies with the chairman, Dick Wilson, who was busy selling off their land underhandedly for his own benefit. AIM came in to protect the people. They were the murder capitol of the country at the time. Look up Incident at Oglala, and learn the whole story.
