Whitesnake

English rock band

Who is Whitesnake?

Whitesnake is an English rock band that was formed in 1978 by vocalist David Coverdale following his departure from Deep Purple. The band initially played in a hard rock/blues rock style but by the mid-80s they moved towards a commercially-friendly rock sound. They were consistently successful throughout the 80s, scoring six consecutive top 10 albums in the UK. Their commercial peak came at the release of their 1987 self-titled album, which sold eight million copies in the US. Whitesnake's main period of activity was between 1978 and 1990. They briefly reformed for a European tour in 1994, and again for the Restless Heart album recording in 1997. In 2002 they reformed for the band's 25th anniversary, and have remained an active band to this day.
