Katy Perry Rocked The Super XLIX Halftime Show
At halftime the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks were tied 14-14, so it was up to Katy Perry to make things a little more interesting.
Katy definitely made the most of her 12-minutes on the NFL’s biggest stage. She began her show atop a golden lion and launched right into her hit sing “Roar.” A field of dancers swayed around the lion while Katy finished her opening number with a roar of her own as the lion reared up on its hind legs.
“Dark Horse” was next. She strutted through the stage as it transformed into a 3-D chessboard. Then Katy introduced her first guest, Lenny Kravitz, and the two sang a rock-filled version of her breakout hit “I Kissed a Girl.”
Things got kind of weird when with “Teenage Dream.” Not a crowd pumping song, Katy.
Up next was the hit “California Gurls,” Katy performed on a candy-colored beach complete with dancing sharks, palm trees and beach balls. Those sharks definitely stole the show.
In a twist, no one saw coming, except Bruno Mars
Missy ended her jaw-dropping set with a snippet of “Lose Control,” as the Super Bowl stage swirled with colors, she showed off her dance moves and Katy changed into a silver gown.
To end her show Katy took a victory lap, soaring around the University of Phoenix Stadium while straddling a shooting star (that looked a lot like “The More You Know” logo) while singing her anthem “Firework.” (Sorry, Katy I have never felt like a plastic bag.) Which was truly the perfect song to pump up the crowd for the second half.
Like Malcolm Butler, Katy Perry left it all out on the field.
