Conversely and ironically, everybody also knows that the quickest way to have a hit video is to make sure that you first have a hit song. Drake seldom disappoints in both regards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Hit Video for a Hit Song!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Going by his history and statistics, Drake remains an absolute hit-making machine. He\u2019s been making hit songs and hit videos for practically a decade now\u2014all the while ensuring that his videos are fresh, crisp, and extremely creative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"popstar-music-video\">DJ Khaled ft. In this piece, we focus on why the <a href=\"#popstar-music-video\">Popstar music video<\/a> is nothing short of genius.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. The Plot was Totally Unexpected<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though it was obvious that the song would have a great video going by Drake\u2019s track record, we did not expect it to be THAT ingenious! Heck! The writers of Game of Thrones could learn a thing or two about surprises and excellent delivery from the plot of the video. The fact that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lyreka.com\/artist\/justin-bieber\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Justin Bieber<\/a> was the main star leaves you quite dazzled after watching it. But then again, who is a better popstar than Justin? It is Relatable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The video starts with a nagging and overbearing DJ Khaled, who continually pesters Drake about doing a video for their song until Drizzy can\u2019t take it anymore. It is quite relatable because we all have that persistent and sometimes annoying friend (-or partner) who usually pushes us into doing things for the sake of peace. It is also relatable because it shows how the pandemic has affected everyone, including celebrities like Drake and Khaled (we forget they are human too). We Probably Should Have Seen It Coming<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though having Justin Bieber star in the video was mostly unexpected, we probably should have expected him to feature in the <em>Popstar <\/em>video (at least as a cameo appearance). Drake dropped several clues in the song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first verse of the song, Drake raps, <q>You would probably think my manager is <em>Scooter Braun<\/em>.<\/q> This line directly refers to Justin Bieber\u2019s manager. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.lyreka.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/scooter-braun-popstar.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4299\" title=\"\"><figcaption>Scooter Braun via<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Though a little farfetched, it can also be argued that the line <q>Ariana, Selena my visa, it can take as many charges as it needs to, my girl<\/q> makes a subliminal reference to JB\u2019s history with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lyreka.com\/artist\/selena-gomez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Selena Gomez<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not forgetting the part where Drake clearly says, <q>Crown in my hand and I\u2019m really playin\u2019 keep-away, S*** don\u2019t even usually get this big without a Bieber face.<\/q> It couldn\u2019t get more obvious than that! Well, guess what? He literally put a Bieber face to everything, and it spiraled out of control. Well played <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/accounts\/login\/?next=\/champagnepapi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@champagnepapi<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.lyreka.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/im-a-popstar-not-a-doctor-not.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4297\" title=\"\"><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. It is Highly Creative<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The video generally displays sheer creativity from beginning to end. From Bieber\u2019s wife Hailey Baldwin\u2019s cameo to Bieber\u2019s \u201cBaby\u201d ringtone creating a little nostalgia for pretending everything was just a crazy dream, which probably never happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<p>The Popstar video is essentially the product of the hard work, harmony, and collaboration of not two but three superstars \u2013with everybody winning in the end. Drake and Khaled get their Hot 100 number 1 hit and increased sales \u2013and Bieber helps in being a part of the success and benefits from the publicity. Why would Bieber need publicity? Well, because he just dropped a new album. It couldn\u2019t be better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. It Lets the Audience Share in the Fun of Creating the Video<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The behind-the-scenes footage at the end of the video could actually be the best part for many viewers. This is for the simple reason that it gives the audience a feel of all the fun and excitement that went down during the making of the video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-2\"><strong>There was clearly no shortage of fun:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Throwing his phone to the bodyguard walking behind him several times<\/li><li>Messing up the part about wanting<em> <\/em><q>this drink and another one.<\/q><\/li><li>Blatant excitement of people in the outdoor scene loudly screaming Drake\u2019s lyrics in front of fancy cars.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All in all, the video is exceptionally refreshing and an absolute vibe in a year that has not been famous for fun and excitement.
