Wiz Khalifa\u2019s<\/a><\/strong> most recent foray into the Fast and the Furious<\/strong> soundtrack universe, See you Again<\/a><\/strong>, is a soft-spoken tribute to the late Paul Walker<\/a><\/strong>. Walker, who died in a car accident on November 30th, 2013,<\/a> starred in the majority of the Furious movies<\/strong>, and is famously beloved and mourned among his former co-stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am not going to lie to you all I have never seen any of the Furious<\/strong> movies; frankly, they seem pretty loud, and the content seems like an amalgamation of every conversation that my macho coworkers have had around me that I’ve had to ignore; however, the song is touching regardless. In spite of the tacky allusions to the franchise, the frequent Last Rides<\/strong> and references to Roads<\/strong> the ultimate theme of family, brotherhood, and the afterlife resonate throughout the song.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first verse of the song seems to be from the perspective of Walker\u2019s co-stars from the franchise, recounting times in which they could hit the road and laugh<\/q> together and All of the planes<\/q> they flew together (which is a strange thing to mention) and ending with the proclamation that the cast and Walker will see one another in a Better Place<\/q>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second is from the perspective of Walker, assuring his former allies that the bond they cultivated will never be broken \/ And the love will never get lost<\/q>, a touching and powerful statement that is also teensy bit clich\u00e9. Fittingly the verse also ends with So remember me when I\u2019m gone<\/q>, which some say doesn’t seem to sync with the phrase see you again,<\/q> but it\u2019s meant to see you in the next life, otherwise referred to as a better place<\/q>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Altogether, the song is a fairly overt lament for the late Paul Walker. The corresponding video features just about every possible shot of Walker smiling gently from the driver\u2019s seat of a car that you could possibly imagine, including one that is literally the final scene of Furious 7<\/strong>, so try and avoid it you think there is a shot at a surprise ending that isn’t to the effect of brotherhood family and cars<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
