Verse 1
Look at these people!  A tyranny exercised for good may sincerely be the most oppressive repressive. Who's to say what's best for me in a robot world full of CCTV?  We need to turn the tide. We have the means but we lack execution. In a land where 'The Man' resides, there's no peaceful revolution! 'cos they speak for everybody else. Your freedom's a pipe dream. Stop fooling yourself!  How can I trust this world to look out for me? This lack of conviction is just so sad to see. How do I trust this world to understand love? There's no solidarity between 'them' and 'us'. 'Them' and 'us'!  Looking back, it's just the way I am. We're shaking our cages. You want control of what you don't have, tyrants 'for the good of us all'. Now we've grown ever complacent to the presence of an intruder. Is the illusion of safety worth the price of your freedom and future? Don't lie down like everybody else. They're selling you out, so stand up for yourself! Protection is just a cheap disguise. Control of the masses: their ultimate prize. How can I trust this world to look out for me?  This lack of conviction is just so sad to see. How do I trust this world to understand love? There's no solidarity between 'them' and 'us'. Them' and 'us'! There's nothing. I take myself to an open place just to feel that freedom on my face. And it begs perspective; is freedom objective, or simply a matter of time and space? Look at these people walking around like mindless drones! Look at these people who eat what their fed and do what their told. Look at these people on information overload.  Look at these people living their lives in a cage. You can't save me from me. How can I trust this world to look out for me? This lack of conviction is just so sad to see. How do I trust this world to understand love? There's no solidarity between 'them' and 'us'.  'Them' and 'us'!
