Eagle Mountain

Eagle Mountain Lyrics Meanings
by Krazy Kyle Lapointe

Eagle Mountain Lyrics

Eagle Mountain casts a shade
Above the town where a woman stayed
Once a volcano, but now at peace
She stares it down, ill at ease

Her pupils grew wide
She swore she saw a fume
And felt that coming too
There'd be a day now soon
When Eagle Mountain blew

Her husband came out to where she stood
He saw her expression and he understood
He said, "Hon, I saw you haven't taken your meds
All you see is just in your head
The terrible thunder below the ground
It makes not a sound"

But it did
And her composure started suffering
When the rumbling felt just as real as him
Though she could try to shake that ever-blackening plume
She couldn't shake that sound when Eagle Mountain blew

When he first met her he didn't know
That she heard and saw things that weren't there
Then one night he woke up to find her
Crying out in the mountain air
He held her tight and he told her,
"There's no smoke to climb and no fire to spread
Babe I'm here and the fire's in your head"

She had been taking her medication but
It made her tired and she felt depressed
Then one day she left it on the counter
And the world became possessed
And then she felt it happening, she felt it coming on
The birds all parted from the sound
Of a horrible shaking coming from all around

And then wind chimes banged together as the smoke turned the sky to black
And the lava started oozing down, breathing fire
And she screamed so loud as if she raged at the mountain itself
"Why have you brought me Hell? Why have you brought me Hell?"

I still remember the day I saw Eagle Mountain on TV
I stared at the ruined town and it burned silently away
