Who is Black Sabbath?
It is difficult to imagine, but the world famous heavy metal band Black Sabbath was formed all of the way back in 1969. Started in Birmingham, England by Tony Iommi, Bill Ward, Ozzy Osbourne and GeezerButler, they actually began as a jazz and blues band before emerging as one of the strongest voices in the metal genre. One journalist has written of the band's sound, "If their predecessors clearly came out of an electrified blues tradition, Black Sabbath took that tradition in a new direction, and in so doing helped give birth to a musical style." Reuniting over the years, the band has remained true to its unique voice that slowed down the pace, amped up the vocals, and created something unforgettable.
