I feel like this is one about a girl who you intensely love but she either isn't interested or she takes advantage of the fact. You know you shouldn't be with her (Drop every pretense, drown every sense you own) but you want to be with her anyway. There is also a sense in this that god is somehow guiding you toward a person but you're kind of going against that (denominations surrender all control)
