Who is 2Pac?

To accurately describe the short and tragic life of 2Pac (Tupac Shakur) is nearly impossible. He became what one journalist has described as "the unlikely martyr of gangsta rap, and a tragic symbol of the toll its lifestyle exacted on urban black America." Born in 1971, in Brooklyn, NY he would become part of the East Coast rap world. Dancing for Digital Underground, he quickly became a celebrity himself with the release of his first album, "2Pacalypse Now". A tumultuous lifestyle saw him in and out of prison as well as the spotlight, and he quickly became one of the more notorious figures in the genre. At the very peak of his celebrity, and in the midst of a rivalry with West Coast rapper Notorious B.I.G., he was gunned down and died six days later on September 13, 1996.
