Scott Weiland Overview

Scott Weiland (born Scott Kline in San Jose, California on October 27, 1967) was an American singer-songwriter best known as the lead singer of the rock band Stone Temple Pilots until 2013. He was also a member of Velvet Revolver. Starting in 1995, Weiland had a steady solo career with two studio albums, a live album and two cover albums. After reports of tensions within Stone Temple Pilots, the group announced in February 2013 that it had “terminated” Weiland. On December 3, 2015 Weiland was found dead on his tour bus in Bloomington, Minnesota. He had long struggled with drug abuse, and a medical examiner determined the cause of death was an accidental overdose.
