This Poem Lyrics

This Poem - took me down a road that was long
It let me down as a song
It was 3 minutes too long
And too sad
Too sad to sing to you
This poem - led me down a dark hall
It backed me up against wall
Nowhere to turn to and so sad
Too sad to sing to you
I could write it down
But I can’t sing it
I could get the words on paper but my voice couldn’t bring it - to your ear
This poem
It was the best I could do
It stuck to me like glue
So I finally got the courage
Yes I finally got the courage
And I stuffed it in this six string envelope
Yes I stuffed it in this six string envelope
And sent it out on a song to you
