It is about god and the devil.... The first line in the song ...... Hello darkness my old friend... God refers to darkness as the devil, his old friend The title sound of silence is.... _The fall of man_ ...And God said: "who will go and save my people?" No one in heaven. There was absolute Silence in heaven.
