Korn Overview

Formed in Bakersfield, CA in 1992, Korn is among the few "alternative" metal groups, and one that has achieved tremendous success and popularity. Though they released an album in 1993 (under the name LAPD), they really began to develop their sound when vocalist Jonathan Davis joined Munky Shaffer, Head Welch, Fieldy Snuts Arivzu and David Silveria that same year. Touring heavily, they emerged as a unique crossover, making pop charts in the late 90s and continued to evolve as members left and were replaced, and even returned. Incorporating dubstep and electronic music into their work, they continue to create something hard to pin down and yet popular with many audiences.
