I think it's a reinterpretation of an old Egyptian myth. In it the god Set was jealous of his brother Osiris so Set killed him by tricking him to go into a coffin. He then Cut Osiris's body into several parts;"I cut you into pieces". Osiris's wife then found the parts of him and brought Her husband to life temporarily; then he had to become god of the underworld. He still loves her but had to leave her. It's an interesting story that breaks my heart every time I read it! So when I first heard the song I thought it sounded like this.
Let it Die
Lyrics
I cut you into pieces
Searching for your imperfections
I had plans to make you whole
But all my threads couldn't stop the bleeding
There's nothing left, but I'm not leaving
When all I know is you
I've been looking for a way to bring you back to life
And if I could find a way, then I would bring you back tonight
I'd make you look, I'd make you lie
I'd take the coldness from your eyes
But you told me, if you love me
Let it die
Your eyes stare right through me
Ignore my failed attempts to
Breathe life back into your veins
But I can't start your cold heart beating
You're so far gone, but I'm not leaving
When all I know is you
I've been looking for a way to bring you back to life
And if I could find a way, then I would bring you back tonight
I'd make you look, I'd make you lie
I'd take the coldness from your eyes
But you told me, if you love me
Let it die
And you left me more dead than you'll ever know
When you left me alone
I've been looking for a way to bring you back to life
And if I could find a way, then I would bring you back tonight
I'd make you look, I'd make you lie
I'd take the coldness from your eyes
But you told me, if you love me
Let it die
Let it die
Let it die
Let it die

Let it Die
Meanings
this song, in my opinion, is about someone who has a personality dissorder.... killing the one he loves, and feeling regret of his action, trying to undo it... I don't say it's psychopathy nor sociopathy, because of the mere feeling of regret... maybe bipolar dissorder? maybe...

More on it I think it's from two perspectives the wife, and Set.
