That year, their album Bon Iver, Bon Iver won the Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. Since November 2012, Bon Iver has been mostly inactive, although the group has not officially broken up. The band released the song "Heavenly Father" in June 2014, and in July 2015, Bon Iver played their first show in nearly three years.
Thoughts on Songs with Bon Iver

The most heart-wrenching song I have heard up to know, I think. You can feel him breaking and those lyrics are... devastating. It's a love that is skinny in the sense that, you know, when you have this rope that won't hold the weight you need it hold? You know it's going to break any time soon, but it's all you got. And you'll take the risk. This song is a bit like that. Like taking the risk of loving even through an extremely fragile love. I think he loved someone who was in no position to return that love. We don't choose who we love, and sometimes the person that we love is so fucked up that they can't even take care of themselves, so how are they going to take care of us? it's complicated and it's rough, but it's also love because we are there despite everything. He is there still and when she's gone, when she let go, all that he can think of is well, what did I fight for? why did you leave me? who will love you know? it's giving everything, absolutely all.
